A BLACKPOOL musician has solved a mystery for film crews making a film about Beatles legend John Lennon.
Streets across the resort were turned into film sets as scenes from Nowhere Boy – the story of Lennon's younger years – were shot in Blackpool.

But film crews could not track down where five-year-old Lennon stayed when he visited Blackpool.

Now Mark Standing, who lives on Ivy Avenue, has revealed the Beatle spent two months of his life in his home when his father, Alf, wrenched him from his mother and brought him to the resort.

Nowhere Boy, which stars Kristen Scott-Thomas, transformed Bel's Cafe and Tres Bon Guest House, on Trafalgar Road, for filming.

Mr Standing, who teaches guitar for Lancashire County Council, said: "I moved here 16 years ago, and I had no idea Lennon had lived in this house for two months.

"His father brought him to stay with his friends, Mr and Mrs Hall, here.

"It was only recently I was told by a Lennon expert that the star lived at my house, and I thought it was fantastic.

"Lennon moved house while in Blackpool, but a book written by Cynthia Lennon suggests it was on the doorstep of the Ivy Avenue house that Lennon's mother gave him the ultimatum of "me or your dad".

"It's good to know I have a connection with such a legend."

perhaps a blue plaque is in order!,not only did John Lennon briefly live in this house but now it is occupied, by the equally famous "Pstan" Standing, musician, sculptor, member of local groups, Ceramic Hobs, and Heffalumptrap and musical director of Blackpool School of Samba

Why does this guy feel as though 'he's got a connection' with John Lennon now? He didn't know him and didn't even know that he'd briefly lived there for two months, until an 'expert' told him!! FFS

Wow! .. So if it wasn't for this event ""me or your dad"" happening on this mans doorstep. There would have never been a band called 'The Beatles'.
