IF there's something strange in your neighbourhood . . . call the Spectre Inspectors!
TV presenter Jason Karl is joining forces with Adele Yeomans, owner of Mains Hall, reputed to be one of Singleton's haunted residences, to produce a book on Blackpool's ghosts and ghouls.
The Spectre Inspectors are seeking spooky stories from local residents for Blackpool's Haunted Heritage, which will be published in October.
As part of their search, Mr Karl and Mrs Yeomans yesterday enjoyed a spooky ride on the Ghost Train at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, which Mr Karl revealed as being haunted by a former ride operator named Cloggy during LIVINGtv's Most Haunted series.
Cloggy, so named for his traditional choice of footwear, died around 30 years ago, but is thought to still keep an eye on his old workplace.
As well as hearing the distinctive sound of his clogs in the ride, staff have also reported seeing him in the faint form of an apparition.
Well known as a face of paranormal television around the world, Mr Karl, who had his first supernatural experience aged 13, said: "We're putting a new slant on well-known folklore and we're also looking for new material.
"I've been fascinated in it since I was 13 when I was at my grandmother's house. My grandfather was a fishmonger and there was an unexplained smell, it was like you were in a fish shop."
The book, which will be published by Carnegie Publishing of Lancaster, will be a collection of 'true' accounts of encounters with ghosts throughout the area, the second in the pair's Haunted Heritage series.
Mrs Yeomans, 47, who owns and lives in Mains Hall with her husband Roger, says she has always had a fascination with the haunted realms.
She said: "As a full time tarot consultant and now as a ghost hunter, I am looking forward to exploring the stranger side of Blackpool – we have already had some amazing encounters and we are looking for more. Our first book, Preston's Haunted Heritage, was a bestseller for local interest. We're doing Blackpool next and then Lancaster.
"There are the famous stories, like at the Pleasure Beach, but we'd like to hear from people with new tales from different places."
Anna Goddard, managing director of Carnegie Publishing, said, "The paranormal has an enormous and ever-growing appeal and Lancashire seems to be a rich source of strange events and ghostly sightings."
Whether your supernatural experience has been in a hotel, pub, home, shop or workplace in Blackpool and within a 10- mile radius, the authors want to hear from you. E-mail hauntedheritage@jasondexter karl.com
