THE £220m transformation of the area around Talbot Gateway is finally set to secure planning permission.
Blackpool Council's development control committee is being recommended to approve the massive scheme which will create around 800 construction jobs and bring 3,000 jobs into the town centre.

Developer Muse, which has made the application, is due to start work next year.

The first phase will be the building of a new supermarket and 14 town houses, the refurbishment of Talbot Road multi-storey car park, the creation of the new Talbot Plaza, and road works to Talbot Road, Buchanan Street, George Street, Deansgate, Cookson Street and Dickson Road.

The rest of the 25-acre site will take shape over 10 to 15 years with council offices, four hotels, residential accommodation and shops being introduced in phases.

A new police station and courts are part of the final stage.

If the new police station and courts are part of the final stage make me wonder how the ski resort can be constructed by 2015....

So that basically means new Blackpool Council offices only! built on prime land that would be excellent for other developments. nothing else apart from another superstore will be built.
