DETECTIVES have charged a 16-year-old boy with attempted murder after a pensioner was found with his throat cut.
George Thornley was discovered by friends in the kitchen of his home on Meadow Close, Clifton, at around 7pm on Tuesday.

The 68-year-old had suffered savage head injuries, wounds on his hand and it appeared his throat had been cut.

He was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital and is currently on a life-support machine with his family at his bedside.

Ambulance crews were called after Mr Thornley failed to show up to meet friends on Tuesday so they went to his home to investigate.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named, was charged on Saturday and will appear before Blackpool Youth Court on Monday.
