THE driver of a Blackpool coach carrying a pregnant Fylde coast teenager has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a crash.
Clare Dunne, 19, from Fleetwood who is five months pregnant, boarded the London bound National Express coach in Blackpool this morning.

The teen has told how she feared she was about to give birth when the bus left the road and hit the traffic lights by the side of a pelican crossing on Blackpool Road, Preston.

Miss Dunne said: "I just couldn't believe what was happening, I felt the bang and was scared I was giving birth.

"The bus was quite badly damaged, the bumper actually fell off and the driver seemed very shaken.

"The Police arrived and took him away and we were told he had been arrested for drink driving."

A Lancashire Police spokeswoman said: "I can confirm a 40-year-old Manchester man was arrested this morning on Blackpool Road under suspicion of having excess alcohol while in charge of a vehicle.

I cannot see the relevancy of the 5 Month pregnancy mentioned in this article.

Clearly the bus driver should have the book thrown at him and have his PSV licence withdrawn for life. It is simply not on to be drunk in charge of a public service vehicle.

I suppose the Gazette saw an opportunity to ramp the story with the Pregnancy and took it.

I actually agree with geezer466, this is blatant ramping of a relativity minor news story, I do find it frustrating when such a vital part of Fylde life resorts to ramping what can only be described as small village news, there are far more important issues for this part of the world, perhaps it would be better if the Gazette journalists actually got out there and uncovered the real news.

She was a passenger in a crash who happened to be pregnant.
The Gazette got her story as it was more jazzy than a regular passenger.

BUT

What get's me more is *******BREAKING NEWS*********

It's not breaking news at all, it's minor news at that. It dumbing down news that Skytv do and the rest copy like sheep.
Back in my day, ******BREAKING NEWS******* was something major, like the SAS doing a job.
Now there is breaking news every single day, and it's mediocre news at that.

Carry on.....

Because it's representative of the town and comes across as though it's put together by 7th grade kids who've yet to grasp the finer points of reporting and journalism.

Know what you mean Chrissy, who is interested in a coach just bumping something it happens every single day.

BREAKING NEWS is something like a murder, or a train crash, or a sewer collapse etc etc

Wish I worked for the gazette I would get them some great stories ;0)
