THE chief executive of the body responsible for mental health care on the Fylde is retiring.
Finlay Robertson (pictured) will leave Lancashire Care NHS Trust at the end of September.

Trust chairman Jo Darbyshire said she would be very sorry to see Mr Robertson go and paid tribute to his efforts over the years.

He was instrumental in uniting several organisations to form the trust in 2002, and celebrated achieving Foundation Trust status last year.

Service

She said: "Finlay has given great service to the trust and the NHS over a 38 year career and he will be helping us find a suitable candidate to replace him."

Work has already begun to find a replacement for Mr Robertson and a successor is expected to be appointed before he leaves.

Mr Robertson said he had two main reasons for making his decision.

He said: "We achieved Foundation Trust status last year and have created clear plans for the next 10 years. I think it is an ideal time for a new chief executive to come in to see these through.

"I have always planned to take early retirement and I have a range of professional and personal interests to pursue, so the time is right."
