SEASIDERS manager Ian Holloway has called for calm ahead of Monday's derby day clash with Preston.
The boss has appealed for Blackpool fans to keep the peace ahead of the fixture against their fierce local rivals Preston North End.

With the home section sold out, supporters posting on internet message boards revealed some had bought tickets to sit in among the North End fans.

One poster on fan site Another View From The Tower (AVFTT) said: "By the sounds of it there will be quite a few Blackpool in there."

Another supporter warned the club could face a fine if there is trouble surrounding the game on Monday night.

But the manager has appealed for calm, telling The Gazette: "We don't want troublemakers here."

He added: "There will be tackles, fouls and all sorts of things, but hopefully it will be a very good game of football between two good teams. I hope there's no trouble because no-one should ever fight with someone else over a football match.

"It's an absolute waste of time and space and we don't want those people watching.

"This is just another day at the office. It means extra for the fans and that filters through to the players and it will be frenetic."

Insp Dave Old, of Blackpool Police, has been placed in charge of policing the event – which will be televised live on Sky Sports.

He said: "We will have a significant police operation in place, not only in Blackpool but spreading over into parts of Fylde and Wyre.

"However, we hope the game goes by without problem and fans can enjoy a great occasion.

"We've had this fixture for a few years and bar one or two incidents which we have dealt with quickly, they have pretty much gone off without incident. If there were home fans in the away section of the stadium it is something which would concern us but that would be something for the club to deal with and we would support them in any action they take."

Blackpool FC club secretary Matt Williams added: "If any Blackpool fans are in the area of the stadium allocated for the Preston supporters they will be located stewards and ejected from the ground.

"Tickets have been on sale for a while now and if they have not managed to secure tickets in the home section that is unfortunate but they should stay away and watch the game on television."

Preston North End were unavailable to comment over ticket sales.

The game kicks-off at 8pm and will be on Sky Sports 1 from 7.30pm.
