On Saturday, millions of viewers of BBC1's I'd Do Anything talent search saw Jodie dish up a second helping as one of just 12 girls to make it through to the "Nancy Academy".

That means she will now feature as one of the finalists on live TV as part of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's search for the stars of a new stage production of Oliver!

"I'm over the moon to have got into the Nancy House with the other finalists, it's just so amazing," said Jodie, 28, of Newton Drive, Blackpool.

The singer, who slimmed down eight stone to become Britain's Biggest Loser on a television reality show, is hoping her new trim figure and big voice will help her catch the audience vote.

And rather than being famed as a "loser", she is looking to be a winner and fulfill her dream of appearing on the West End stage.

Jodie added: "I always lost out at auditions because I was big – this is now my chance.

"To be Nancy in a West End production would be a dream come true.

"I hope everyone in Blackpool will help me achieve my dream."

Jodie will stick to her philosophy in life "always dance as if no-one is watching" and just be herself.

"I will put my own stamp on Nancy," she promised.

The show, hosted by Graham Norton, is searching for a Nancy and for three young boys to share the role of Oliver! in Sir Cameron Mackintosh's West End production.

Lord Lloyd Webber is the "I'd Do Anything" mentor and with panellists John Barrowman, Denise van Outen and Barry Humphries will help viewers to make up their mind.

Lord Lloyd Webber said: "The role of Nancy is such an exciting one to cast.

"It's so real. Here we go with a role that will speak to a lot of kids today. Nancy is a girl of the street and yet she has a heart of gold underneath it all.

"We're looking for a girl who really is a rough diamond."
