BLACKPOOL will be broadcast to millions this weekend when the town is featured on the hit show Top Gear.
Presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May and the Stig raced from the heart of Switzerland to Blackpool on just one tank of petrol.

The team were then invited to switch on the lights - and the Stig stunned the 20,000 crowd when he powered-up the illuminations.

Top Gear's anonymous 'tame racing driver' surprised everyone when he stepped in front of presenters Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond to pull the famous lever and create a kaleidoscope of colour along the Golden Mile.

All that programme makers would reveal about who won the race was that James May came last.

The programme will be aired on BBC Two at 8pm tomorrow (Sun).

Yeah right, more like a crowd of a few hundred if even that. I was there and there wasn`t a crowd of 20,000

What`s the point in making up figures???

That isn`t going to boost visitors to Blackpool.

Tower Ghost, you forgot to mention that it's a PUBLICITY STUNT! I am looking forward to watching the programme and would do so whether it was Blackpool or Bognor.
It certainly won't do any harm to the image of the town. Actually it might, better wait until we've seen it before we pass judgement! :)

Tower Ghost - I was there also and I think there were more than a few hundred! I was stood by Coral Island - there was no way you could get into the car park, town was rammed! Stop being so miserable and stand up for your town!

I'm glad you weren't responsible for counting the ballot papers, in the recent US Presidential elections.

We'd still be at it.

I agree completely with everyone, I was there and if there was a couple of hundred then I would have been able to get to the front row. I was stood in the middle somewhere but I couldn't move there was that many people. It is pessismists like Tower Ghost that are holding our town back in my view. Traders and hoteliers say 'worst season ever' and 'we need more investment and development'. I agree we need more radical development and investment. But then when plans are in place, the same hoteliers and traders block plans because they moan it will hit their trade or they will have to be demolished. Optimism is the way forward.
