FIRST she said "I'd Do Anything", now Jodie Prenger is ready to say "I do".
The Blackpool singing sensation was all smiles after announcing her engagement to boyfriend Steve Greengrass just moments after another show-stopping performance in the BBC's prime time search for a new West End star.
Steve, 41, went down on one knee to pop the question to songbird Jodie, 28, after Saturday night's live TV show.
She had just won plaudits for her rendition of the Stephen Sondheim classic "Send in the Clowns".
And as news of the couple's engagement spread through the BBC bar, Jodie's fellow I'd Do Anything contestants - who are all vying to win the coveted role of Nancy in a new production of Oliver! - burst into song.
"They all started singing "I'm Getting Married in the Morning", said Jodie''s delighted mum, Madeleine.
"Jodie had come running over to tell us after Steve had proposed, she was wide-eyed and the happiest I've ever seen her.
"Steve had done the right thing and asked her dad, Marty, for permission first," added Madeleine who was in London with Marty to watch the live show.
"There was mayhem. The Nancys went berserk and all the little Olivers joined in singing. It was like a mini musical.
"We couldn't wish for anyone nicer than Steve for a son-in-law. He is such a nice person," said Madeleine.
Jodie, of Newton Drive, will not have time to start planning a wedding until after the show.
But her mum reckons it will definitely be a Blackpool event.
"There are 12 Nancys lining up for bridesmaids and all the Olivers to sing at the wedding!" she joked.
"It was a really magical evening for us all," said Madeleine.
"Steve's mum had flown over from Spain specially to meet Jodie for the first time. She is lovely too."
Jodie's whirlwind romance has been featured throughout the TV show. Her first audition in Manchester, three months ago, was also the couple's first date.
Steve, an IT consultant from Northampton, has been in the audience to cheer her on at every show.
And last night the viewers voted Jodie through to next week as one of the final nine Nancys.
