A MOTHER accused of abducting her own children and taking them aboard has appeared before a court via a video link from prison.
Trudy Crofts, 30, formerly of Holmfield Road, North Shore, now of no fixed address, is charged with abducting her daughters, Carene, 12, and Shelby ,11, and removing them illegally from Britain to Morocco on August 17.

Crofts was arrested in Spain and brought back to Britain.

Her daughters are believed to be still in Morroco.

The two girls were in the care of their grandmother, Rita Astbury, of Milbourne Street, who had a residency order for the children to live with her when they disappeared following a trip to the swimming baths.

Alison Quanbrough, prosecuting, asked for Crofts to remain in custody.

Defence lawyer Gary McAnulty did not ask for bail for his client.

Crofts was remanded in custody to December 4 by Blackpool magistrates for her committal to crown court .

The girls remain in Morocco and police and solicitors for Ms Astbury are continuing to negotiate with their Moroccan colleagues in an attempt to secure their return.
