POOL are in talks with Ipswich Town striker Jon Stead.
The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour with Portman Road boss Roy Keane and ended last season on loan at Coventry.

And Keane confirmed that the striker is in talks at Bloomfield Road.

He said: 'Jon Stead's been speaking to a club today, Blackpool, but there's another club interested in him as well.

'A fee has been accepted for all three and we have given them permission to talk to the clubs. It's up to the players now to agree a deal.

'We gave them permission to speak to the clubs and it's up to them to agree. I'm not really up to date on if they've signed or agreed anything.'

The Yorkshireman has Premier League experience with Blackburn, Sunderland and Sheffield United.

Another striker reportedly on Pool's radar is Senegalese giant (6' 4) Macoumba Kandji of US club New York Red Bulls.

Stead is a good player but we need a striker who can score goals. He would be a good squad player though if he's cheap. Kandji is an exciting player. Great performances against Man City and Spurs in the last few weeks. He's not a prolific scorer either but would be a terrific signing.

The Gazette poll says six in ten fans back Ollie's call for fans to "chill out" over lack of signings.

I fear he and his followers have left the real world.

If Jon Stead represents the yardstick for Premier recruits, kiss goodbye to the top division now.

Ipswich (15th last season)and Coventry (19th) hold Stead in such high regard, neither want him.

The stark truth remains that besides Championship-level fighters, only Adam reflects the class needed.

It leaves ten players needed to even hope for survival.

Jon Stead is a confidence man, he was banging them in for Huddersfield and then he moved to Blackburn in the Prem and his goals kept them up that season. Everyone knows Ollie works wonders with players confidence and belief. If Ollie can get him at a good price and im sure if KO is involved it will be peanuts then he may turn out to be a gem of a player hes good in the air, which as strikers are concernd after losing BBB we dont have that threat anymore and he can score goals if his CONFIDENCE is high.

38 Games
10 wins = 40 points That should be our goal
10 Draws
18 Losses
