Ian Holloway is continuing to run the rule over a number of trialists, including Franny Jeffers and three overseas players who started Tuesday's friendly at Crewe.
They are Sunny, a 21-year-old Nigerian midfielder from Valencia, Razak Omotoyossi, a striker with French second division side Metz, and Laurent Merlin, a 25-year-old winger who started his career at Marseille and spent last season in the French third division.

Holloway added: "Razak could only play 20 minutes at Crewe. The way he started the game, you thought, 'Blimey, he looks something'.

"But then the wheels came off because he hasn't been training with his club.

"We've only got 15 or 16 players in our squad, so we've got up to ten places to fill as well as bringing some younger ones from abroad on loan (clubs are allowed an unlimited pool of under-21s).

"The lad in midfield at Crewe (Sunny) is that sort of ilk."

I for one would sign up Jeffers! We are desperately short up front. The queues for the pies at half time are ridiculous, the staff in there just cannot cope. Get him in there Ollie!

signing players from Ligues 2 and 3 in France? you might as well stay closer to home and sign conference players, as that reeks of no ambition whatsoever. Blackpool aren't prepared to take a chance on 4 or 5 proven players so obviously aren't preparing to stay in the Prem for more than 9 months then. Gallas, Silvestre, Butt, Bullard, Chopra, all available, proven prem experience, but no, Ligues 3 players. Says it all.

Jeffers? Stead? Neither rate as Premier-class strikers.

Eaves' hattrick against Bolton showed clear promise.

But with scarcely two weeks left, the squad looks grim.

No goalkeeper with proven calibre at the highest level.

The defence cries out for pace and steel.

Midfield requires top drawer ballwinners and wingers.

And Pool need ace strikers for a chance to survive.

Oyston/Belokon, splash out NOW so that new men can gel.

Or a dismal start - four away in the opening five games - could sink morale beyond recovery.

Chorlton74, well said.

Oyston thinks small.

Worse, he risks taking the club back to the small time.

It does not even make good business sense.

Investing enough millions for Chopra etc would pay off.

Karl, why not run a candy floss stall on the seafront?
