MATCHWINNER Jason Euell has answered his critics – and no one is more delighted than his team-mates and boss Ian Holloway.
The Seasiders manager saluted Euell's professionalism and claimed the striker's goalscoring performance against Ipswich will "allow me to pick him a bit more often".

Euell's fourth of the season was the only goal as Pool got one over on an Ipswich side who have beaten them twice this season.

It left Pool just two points below the Championship play-off zone and had a capacity home crowd applauding Euell's contribution, which pleased his team-mates.

Centre-half Alex Baptiste said: "I don't know why Jason sometimes gets grief. You can see the quality he has in that performance.

"His hold-up play was different class. He was coming back and winning the ball and he won headers in our box as well.

"On top of that, he scored the goal we desperately needed, so he couldn't have done much more.

"He is a fantastic professional. We all know what ability he has and I don't know why people get on his back. It's the same with Ben Burgess – they are absolutely vital players for the squad."

Keeper Matt Gilks, named sponsor's man of the match after a string of fine saves, echoed those views.

"Jason has done very well. We've got no qualms about him at all," he said.

"He is a fantastic player and has a lot of attributes on and off the field.

"He showed on Saturday what a good player he is."

Armfield stand to open against Crystal Palace, provided Valarie Belokon can fly over.

Remember, you heard it here first.

Actually, I read the same thing "first" on AVFTT on Saturday, lol.
As with every other story regarding the South Stand opening, I'll believe it when I'm sat in the thing!

Onto the subject of Euell, he had a cracking game on Saturday and looked twice the player that he was earlier in the season. Not only that, but he looked confident for a change, which clearly helped.

No qualms with him being in the squad if he carries on like that, however in the long run, questions need to be asked as to whether he can take us to the "next level".

For now, great game for him, great win & good to see him scoring a vital goal - as he did against Newcastle.

Agreed, Euell was one of our best players in a game where we rode our luck and didn't really deserve the win...A draw would've been fair but for once we got the rub of the green after some poor finishing and some great saves from MG.

With regards to the stand i'll believe it when i see it too as im out of town the weekend of the Palace game so i hope it's the home game after that the stand opens :D

Well done Jason. Those who abuse players wearing tangerine are not Blackpool fans and should stay away from Bloomfield Road.

He looked good, held the ball up well, put himself about and looked confident. well done Jason, reborn.

On another note, Vaughany and Edwards were everywhere, excellent games. Joe Martin for me was probably the most impressive as he's hardly featured but was integral to our win.

Gilks getting better all the time. Congrats to the whole squad for a very hard earned win, professional and dogged, but most importantly calmer than of late in defence, we'd have lost this not long ago.

Re posting 3 I too agree. Also: why does the Castle put a huge MU flag up when they play but never a BFC flag? Dave the landlord should be ashamed. Well done to all the players on Sat, but Jason, BBB and a few others should not be hear next season if we want to keep progressing - look at the reserves result today which contains half of the first team squad! Matt's save from Healey was unbelievable and he should have got 10 in todays gazette Steve C and NOT 9!

I'm afraid I must have been watching a different game. Euell was not one if our better players in a game which the team performance was no where near what we are capable of. It's good that pool fans have come to expect more and is testament to what ollie has done but let's not be silly. Euell is no longer a championship team player, let's hope bannan bouaza and gtf are fit again soon. We need them if we are going to challenge for play offs

So easy to be negative Paul C talks rubbish and crew?
Ollie's right..get behind the team and support.

I gave up writing here for a long time as it feels like a pack of wolves trying to tear at each other at times!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe chat lines are there to criticise.
My philosophy is:
"A great teacher or football gaffer believes in hsi team and the people underneath know it.

No belief then why should the subordinates beleieve.
!"

Anyway, you lot are in my thoughts.
Have a happy day out there.

Andy
