FRESH doubt has been cast over Blackpool's prospects of re-signing Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam.
The Scot had a successful spell on loan at the club last season, helping the Seasiders to stave off the threat of relegation.

But new manager Ian Holloway has questioned whether Adam would be committed to a return to Bloomfield Road.

And Championship rivals Barnsley and Reading are reported to be interested in a player valued in the £500,000 bracket by the newly-crowned Scottish champions.

Holloway said: "My understanding of what happened at the player of the year presentation was that Charlie did not really answer the question when he was asked about staying at Blackpool. He also said he might be going to Birmingham or Wolves.

"Charlie is a good player, who did very well for us, but if a player thinks he can go on to something bigger and better, then I don't want him.

"I want people who believe in the club."

This is no shock and I can't believe people are expecting us to sign the lad!

He clearly wants as high up as he can get and has no loyalty to Blackpool. Although he played well in some games you could see a lack of team spirit and care towards Blackpool.

It would be no great loss if we did not sign Adam. He only looked so good because we had no competition in that place as he was replacing the likes of Fox and Vaughan in the middle!

Can we (as fans) start putting this one to bed and move on???? ADAM WILL NOT BE COMING TO BLACKPOOL!! I knew that from the 2nd game I saw him play.

Holloway is right its not the type of player that we want long term at a club. Lets hope that a suitable alternative can be found.

Well Anthony I think you're on your own here. If Adam clearly wants to be as high up as he can get, why would he leave Rangers and why is he considering Barnsley?

How can you say he only looked good because we had no competition? In some games, he was the only midfielder playing. And if you doubted his team spirit, just remember his reactions after the win at Preston, a game I would add in which he was majestic. Holloway is shaping up to be the mouthpiece of Oyston and is already using stupid excuses for not spending money. If he continues to carry the Oyston line like this and let our target players go to clubs like Barnsley, Blackpool's fans will desert faster than rats on a sinking ship.

I got the feeling Charlie wanted to come, but as usual, what chance do we stand?
We all know KO will not pay anything like 500K even if they are a class player & well worth the INVESTMENT!
same goes for DJ. If Holloway talks to ST & looks at tHe videos of how he influenced our team & helped us stay up tHen I think he would change his views, if not then I worry!!
Another season of struggle & penny pinching. I say again WHAT PRICE RELEGATION KO???

AnthonyB, I think your wrong. What Ollie might be doing is blowing a smoke screen, just maybe its in the works to sign him, the fee is do-able and now with Foxy gone, one wage is free. If Charlie Adam wants to be in the shopwindow, hes better off coming to Blackpool than going to Brum or Wolves, he`ll not get a game at those clubs.

I NEVER got the impression Adam wanted to come back to Pool... although I would want him.

As for why he is considering Barnsley... HE ISN'T!! You have miss read... Barnsley and Reading are interested in Adam NOT Adam is interested in Barnsley!

As for who Adam is clearly interested in joining is the likes of Wolves and Birmingham! As would nearly any footballer if the opportunity was available!

As for the comment on Adam looking better because he has no proper competition... I stand by this. Name his competition in the centre???? Southern was his partner so doesn't count./ Other than that it was Fox and Vaughan. They held as much presence as a paperbag in the middle! Don't get me wrong Adam was a great player for us but his ability was slightly emphasised to the lack of options we had!

There is no doubt IH says some rather foolish and erratic things.

Of course a player wants to play as high up as he possibly can. Of course he will want the best financial deal from what is a short career that often involves relocating all over the country.

A manager has to sell the club to a player and make him feel that he is wanted and there is ambition to go places. A club like Blackpool has to do this even more so to compete against other clubs in the Championship with better facilities.

I fear Holloway is living in a dreamworld if he just thinks players are going to want to come to Blackpool because they are the best thing since sliced bread was invented.

I AGREE WITH IH,IF A PLAYER CANNOT COMMIT HIMSELF 100% TO A CLUB, THEN HE SHOULD NEVER, EVER BE CONSIDERED,POOL ARE A CLUB WITH VERY LIMITED RESOURCES SO PLAYERS MUST REALLY WANT TO BE AT BLOOMFIELD ROAD,OVERALL,POOL ARE BRILLIANT TO BE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND DESERVE BETTER COMMITMENT FROM PLAYERS BROUGHT IN

I have to say that with Charlie Adam in the side, the whole team improved massively.

DJ finally had someone there that could give him a chance, or something to run on to, instead of running all over the place trying to get the ball.

The defence looked more stable knowing they had a good line in front of them.

I never saw any sign of disloyalty whatsoever and my own opinion is that he wants to come here.

I worry about some of the things IH is saying and fear he'll be so stubborn that potential signings will be lost.

I would make Adam my NUMBER ONE TARGET and closely behind that I would make DJ my NUMBER TWO TARGET.

I think if those two players were signed and a couple more additions to those players we have, then we'd be well capable of aiming for the play off's.

I think that Adam would be an asset to Blackpool FC, I have met him twice now and he is a very committed Guy who would love to play for this club.

The team looked a totally different side with Charlie playing in it, it would be a great shame to lose him now

Are 'Pool likely to publish a retained list anytime soon?
I received a text from the World mobile phone service telling me that Fox had signed for Colchester following his RELEASE by Blackpool ???
