DJ Campbell returned to pre-season training at Leicester City today, though how long he'll be there remains to be seen.
Campbell has made it clear on several occasions that he wants to leave the Foxes.

Blackpool are desperate to sign him but cannot match the frontman's £9,000-a-week wage demands.

Leicester chief executive Lee Hoos said: "His contract is here and it's up to me, Nigel Pearson and DJ to sort something out."

Campbell is under contract at the Walkers Stadium until summer 2011.

He scored nine goals in 19 starts on loan at Blackpool last term, but he is not wanted by the Foxes and available for a fee of around £250,000.

Pool had a bid accepted for the striker earlier in the summer but the move fell through because of Campbell's wages, which are twice that of the Seasiders' highest paid player.

Pool boss Ian Holloway has strengthened his forward line, bringing in 21-year-old Irishman Billy Clarke on a free transfer from Ipswich.

And Clarke, like the rest of the Seasiders squad, had better be prepared for a different style of football next season.

Holloway claims he has spent his year out of the game studying different formations and won't be starting the season with the usual 4-4-2 favoured by most managers.

"I used to be 4-4-2 but I've some new ideas so I will adapt," he said.

"I think the game is moving forward and I am ready for it.

"It's the entertainment business and I'm going to try to entertain the fans and try to win some games.

Mr President,

How about moving to acquire DJ's services on a loan basis again?

Leicester and DJ may be up for it - if only in the short term?

If DJ is desperate to get away, he will have to lower his demands (very much to come to us). £9k a week, get real! He was a non league player not very long ago, so he should be aware of "normal" wages, especially in a recession, where the average fan struggles to afford to watch football.

Im sorry but £9k a week how much would Adam be on if we signed him, surely he would be on the same and if DJ was to get 15/20 goals a season isnt he worth the £9k a week?

The trouble is the snowball effect. One or two players on 9k then the others don't see why they shouldn't have a pay rise, it is a team game after all. Then the whole squad are on higher pay and let's face it Blackpool can't afford it on the gates we get.

I doubt Leicster would want to loan him again, it sounds like they just want rid of him. Di the goalies right about the snowball effect, he really needs to get real and lower his demands or hes going to be the most expension bench warmer at Leicster. It just proves that some championship clubs are paying too much to there players and this in turn over inflates their wage demands.

9K a week for a player that can't quite grasp the offside rule, and that is the reason he only scored 9/19. Come on DJ a simple Yes,at a decent wage, or No will suffice. It would be great to have you in board, but if not thanks for your help last season.

Nearly half a million pounds a year on basic salary (not including bonuses) for one player is WAY more than we can afford. Our maximum is about £200k a year.

1. And fans don't understand why ticket prices go up.
2. I don't want DJ unless he comes for less than £300k a year.

As for formation: great.. I reckon a 5-3-2 suits us best and hope Ollie is moving in that direction. We would take on wing backs which is good as we lack proper wingers. Edwards, Barker & Baptiste playing as Centre Backs with Evatt as reserve. Coidy on the right with either Crainey or Martin on the left. Sounds great.

Only 9/19 goals? Considering he was not match fit and joined a struggling team, a ratio that would bring 22 goals over the course of a season seems pretty good to me.
Imagine what he could do with a full pre-season and surrounded by better players? Perhaps PNE should sign him.

AnthonyB, Ollie said entertaining football 5-3-2 is surely a defensive formation. Although I am not a fan of the 4-5-1 formation it wouldn't surprise me if this is what we play. Coid, Baptitse, Barker, Edwards.
GTF, Southern, Burgess, Vaughan, Ormerod, Clarke. as it stands
