The game takes place on a fictional Island in the Carribean San Esperito. Your character is called Rico Rodriguez. You are from the island and your mission is to overthrow Salvador Mendoza, a corrupt dictator in league with drug cartel, Montano. Your aim is to disrupt and dismantle to regime by assassinating key members and blowing things up.

The island is huge that includes civilized areas, seaports, airports and military installations but most of the island is made up of rainforests. Although you have free roam of the island the actual playing field is not that large because nothing happens in the forests. Right from the beginning your giving a taste of your characters abilities as you need to jump out of a plane at several thousand feet and delpoy a paracute to land on the island.

You can steal any vehicle in the game including cars, boats, planes and helicopters. While in a vehicle you can hijack other moving cars by jumping into them, a very exciting example would be getting chased by a helicopter in a car and when the chopper gets close enough you can hijack it and take control of the chopper.

The game is over the top and isn't ashamed of it either. This is James Bond meets Che Guevara times 100. You need to master your characters abilities but will likely annoy most users but very rewarding if you can do it. The game involves skydive, base jump, parasail, paracute, killing, driving, and when you mix the whole lot it can be almost artistic
