Looking at the screen shots you would not be
wrong into thinking it was Dawn of the Dead - the videogame. That is almost
exactly what it is, although there is no official license linking the two. You
are trapped in a large shopping centre with hoardes of zombies, your aim of the
game? Survive. You play of photographer Frank West to uncover the truth and what
an incredible journey it is.
The great thing about this game is its
simplicity. You enter a store and whatever you see - its yours to use as a
weapon. The fun bit is trying out your new weapon on the hoardes of zombies and
see what kind of damage is done, the results can be hilarious! Find a sword,
take out a zombies head. Find a can of soup, throw it at a zombies head. Find a
lawnmower, well now use your imagination. It just dosn't get boring.
This is what the next generation of gaming is screaming out for. Not
only are the graphics superb but the sheer amount of zombies on screen is
staggering and the amount of weapons on offer. If this is what's to come for the
next generation then were in for a good time.
The game is not that
difficult to complete - 6 hours if your going straight for the finish, but take
time to experience it all and do all the side missions like GTA and it'll be
more rewarding. There are different endings depending on how many people you
save and how much you uncover and you will want to replay the game again just so
you can find weapons and little quirks you may have missed out. The save
structure is a little flawed because the game has time sensitive areas. For
example, you may save the game during a time sensitive moment and find it
impossible to complete your task, the task is then never going to be completed
no matter how hard you try.
Dead rising is easily the top game on
the 360 so far. If you like any of George Romero's films, you'll simply love
this!
