New look leisure centre unveiled
FLEETWOOD Leisure Centre has revealed a new £1 million look following an extensive refurbishment of the popular venue on the The Waterfront.
The new look complex was officially launched by the Mayor of Wyre Councillor Keith Riley who unveiled facilities including a new look 25 metre swimming pool, learner pool, gymnasium and brand new changing facilities.
The swimming pool will also feature new energy efficient heating facilities and a new filtration system.
The refurbishment has been achieved with funding from Wyre Borough Council and the Lofthouse Foundation of Fleetwood.
The result is a 21st century makeover for the centre which will now provide ultra-modern facilities for visitors.
The Fleetwood Leisure Centre refurbishment also links with recent improvements at the neighbouring Marine Hall and on land between the Centre and the Pier.
Mike Vernon YMCA Leisure Director said, "The facilities have now been brought up to modern day standards and the feedback we have received from customers has been very positive. The centre offers a varied programme of activities and customers can use the facilities on a pay as you go base or purchase one of our flexible membership packages."
Tom Pridmore, Head of Leisure, Cultural and Tourist Services at Wyre Borough Council, said: " We now have a first-class facility at Fleetwood Leisure Centre which we hope will continue to develop as part of the local community.
"This is an exciting step forward for the town and we would urge local residents to come along and see the new facilities for themselves.
