FLEETWOOD'S heritage trawler Jacinta sets sails for Scotland tomorrow to attend a major maritime festival.
The vessel, with a 16-strong Jacinta Trust contingent aboard, is heading for the Glasgow River Festival which takes place over the weekend.
Jacinta is currently berthed in Barrow as the trawler had to leave Fleetwood on the last big tide over a week ago or she would have been stuck in her home port.
Once in Glasgow the heritage vessel will be an ambassador to Fleetwood, with members of the public going aboard and learning about the town's rich fishing heritage.
The trawler will also host a reception for the Royal Scottish Motor Yacht Club, who approached the trust and ask if they could hold their event on board during Saturday night.
Jacinta Trust chairman Lionel Marr said: "It will be a 20 hour journey to Glasgow from Barrow.
"We have never taken Jacinta to this event before so it is another chance to get known and act as ambassadors for Fleetwood."
The festival will feature a host of family activities on a nautical theme and will be attended by all sorts of vessels.
Among those joining Jacinta will be three-masted barque Glenlee, built in Port Glasgow in 1896, two Hunt class minesweepers, HMS Quorn and HMS Middleton, and lighthouse supply ship, Pole Star.
