THEY did the town proud - now the heroes of Fleetwood Town have been honoured with a civic reception.
Mayor of Wyre, Coun Keith Riley, invited the team to the civic centre in Poulton last night in recognition of the club's third promotion in four amazing seasons.
Coun Riley, who lives in Fleetwood, said: "As someone who comes from Fleetwood I am very proud to invite the football club here.
"This was my second to last engagement as Mayor and it has been very special.
"Things are just beginning for Fleetwood Town. They are very ambitious and very able and the whole town is proud of their achievements."
A part of 20 members from Fleetwood Town were given a guided tour of the council chambers by the mayor.
Club vice-chairman Phil Brown said: "It was a real honour to be invited to the chambers by the mayor.
"It meant a lot to everyone at Fleetwood Town and it was nice all our hard work has been recognised in that way."
