New animal hospital for Fylde coast vets

Moy Vets’ new building in Hambleton is of a high grade hospital level specification to look after pets and small animals.

It has been the culmination of years of planning by practice owner Michelle Lingard who has run the vets since the death of her husband Mark in 2011.

Moy Vets began in 1992 when Mark and Michelle moved from Australia and built Moy Farm Veterinary Centre on the site of a sheep shed and stables in Out Rawcliffe.

The practice grew and then followed the purchase of the Animal Medical Centre in Thornton, the opening of a small branch surgery in Knott End On Sea and the opening of a small branch in Hambleton.

Sadly, Mark developed an in-operable brain tumour and Michelle, a widow with two young children to bring up, had to cope with a business that had suffered the loss of one of the main vets. She said she formulated a new plan for the business to enable the practice to grow and provide care for local animals for the next 26 years.

She said: “The Hambleton practice proved to be popular so a long term plan was started of moving the small animal side of the business into a new state of the art clinic there so it would be more accessible for clients who didn’t really need the rural location that the equine side of the business required.
