Blackpool man charged after police chase ends with crash in Wilford Street, Layton

Pictures from the scene showed the mangled wreck of both vehicles in Wilford Street, Layton on Sunday night.
Fortunately, the officer, a police dog and the driver of the Ford Transit tipper van escaped from the smash uninjured.

Hide AdTwo men, aged 27 and 32, were arrested and taken into custody.
Lancashire Police said the 27-year-old has since been charged. The second man was released with no further action.
Mark Kirkwood, 27, of Gynn Avenue, Blackpool has been charged with dangerous driving, driving with no insurance, failure to provide a sample, failing to stop and driving whilst disqualified.

A police spokesperson said: “A man has been charged after a collision between a Ford Transit van and a police vehicle.

Hide Ad“On Sunday, one of our police vehicles was involved in a damage only collision with a Ford Transit van on Onslow Road in Blackpool.
“Thankfully, the occupants of both vehicles, including a police dog, were uninjured.
“Two men were arrested at the scene and following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, a 27-year-old man has been charged.
“Mark Kirkwood, 27, of Gynn Avenue, was charged with dangerous driving, driving with no insurance, failure to provide a sample, failing to stop and driving whilst disqualified.
“He was remanded to appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court yesterday (May 14).
“The second man who was arrested has since been released – no further action.”
